NYFW: Kaufmanfranco FW’14

There is no doubt about it- I love New York Fashion Week. It is so exciting to be in a place where fashionistas- whether they be editors, celebrities, buyers, or street style darlings- from all over the world come together to celebrate the new collections designed by some talented and creative individuals. During the Fall/Winter ’14 season that just passed, I was fortunate to attend a few shows myself, and one of them was the Kaufmanfranco show at Lincoln Center. Designed by Ken Kaufman and Isaac Franco, Kaufmanfranco is known for sleek, minimalistic and sophisticated silhouettes and is also a red carpet favorite, worn by celebrities including Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez, and Julianne Hough. This collection in particular was said to be inspired by Kate Moss and her sensual 90’s style. It consisted of polished yet edgy black and white pieces, as well as some sequins and what is described as a “glacier-blue” color.

These are my top 3 favorite looks from the collection. I love the navy and black gowns, which would look amazing on the red carpet, and I like the color and neck of the coat in the middle.
(Since my pictures are not as great, I got these photos from Style.com and made a collage with the Diptic app.)

As someone interested in both fashion AND music, I had to find out which songs were played during this presentation. I used the Shazam app and discovered two of the songs – “Antivirus” by Olga Kouklaki (this song played in the beginning and during the finale) and 80’s classic “Slave to Love” by Bryan Ferry. You can listen to these songs (& watch their videos) below:
